SyncingFund

Save yourself.
Navigate costs.

Start your journey

Turn next year's large bills into one monthly amount.

SyncingFund is a method to help you pay yourself first. List the bills, divide each one by the months in its cycle, and move a single total into a separate account each month. Property tax, income tax, and insurance are then funded before they arrive. Pick the tool that fits how you work.

The method

Free to read. Five rules and a monthly check.

Spreadsheet

One row per bill. The arithmetic is already in it.

Dashboard

The browser ledger, with the balance you need today.

Agent

Approved commands for the monthly check.

Command line

The same ledger from a terminal.

One-on-one

Setup from your records, then a review each month.

Known bills

The money is ready a month early.

A September bill is complete on August 31st. It can arrive on the 1st or the 30th. It can arrive higher than you expected. The amount is already there.

The five rules

  1. Fund each bill a month early

    September bill, complete August 31st.

  2. Give taxes a full year

    Target January, not April.

  3. Divide by the cycle

    $3,600 a year is $300 a month.

  4. Transfer one total

    One separate account, untouched.

  5. Check the balance monthly

    Monthly amount times months saved.

When an amount changes each year, estimate high.

Your list

What goes on the list.

These four first. Add gifts, vacations, and annual renewals later.

Taxes

Property, school, and income tax past withholding.

Insurance

Home, auto, life. Auto usually runs six months.

Vehicles

Registration, inspection, expected maintenance.

Health

Deductibles, dental work, glasses.

Worked example

Three bills, one transfer of $1,950.

What Dana saves each month, and the balance to hold in May.

Known billAmountCycleMonthly amountBalance needed
Township tax$3,60012 months · due September$300$2,700
Income taxes$18,00012 months · target January$1,500$7,500
Auto insurance$9006 months · due July$150$750
Your monthly amount$1,950$10,950

Starting mid-year? Most rows will show money you should already hold. Close the gap with a deposit, a higher rate for a while, or a later target. Nearest due date first.

Every month

Five minutes on the 1st.

Step four is the one that matters. It keeps the record and the account equal all year.

  1. Set the month

  2. Transfer your amount

  3. Compare the balance

  4. Roll any bill you paid

Read the bill

Read the bill and pay less.

You hold the money early, so the early prices are yours.

Early payment discount

Tax bills print a discount, a face value, and a penalty. Take the discount.

Annual price

One yearly payment usually costs less than twelve monthly ones.

Penalty date

Use the real deadline, not the one you remember.

What changed

New fees and dropped coverage show up on the bill first.

If the number does not fit

Find that out in March, not September.

Add the monthly amount to your expenses. If nothing is left, cut an expense, raise income, or start with the two bills that would hurt most.

Do not move these bills to a credit card. The bill arrives either way, and the card adds interest to it.

Optional agent help

Let an agent run the monthly check.

Four approved commands. You can also do it yourself.

status

Show the amount, the balance needed, and the records.

Record a payment.

roll

The agent never sees your sync code, and deletions stay in the browser.
